Bumfuzzles give up on sailing, at least for now

Frankly, I'm surprised they stuck with it this long. Nothing I've read that Pat has written (and I read about 3/4 of their original blog) has ever given the slightest indication that either of them really enjoyed sailing. So be it. They've finally owned up to the fact and are moving in a different direction. Good on 'em.

Yep. I actually posed this query here a number of years ago and it was a bit difficult for some who love sailing to even contemplate that not everyone in the cruising lifestyle necessarily enjoys sailing. In fact, some hate sailing and simply put up with it as a means to an end.

I'm certain the Bums will continue the rv portion of their exploration until something else catches their fancy since they are clearly 'doers'. I applaud anyone who actually get's up off their arse and goes out in the world and chases their dreams.

I have a premonition, after the RV dirt and black top adventure. I see a boat of some description, it could be mono or multi but it is a boat.

Personally I believe we have chapters in our lives...I have done many things that I love over the years but I like a little variety so when you have been there and done that then I think its good to move on and try something new. Been there and done that might be 2 years or 20 years depending on the level of your passion.

I guess I've never really thought about these folks. I know they've seemed a little, uh, polarizing.

While I am not the RV type, I can certainly see changing gears after a circ for something rather different. I doubt I would give up sailing, however, if I could avoid it, but I would be just as happy with a dinghy on a lake as a passagemaker, once I'd "passagemade".

I wonder if living on the "margin" has gotten to the point where an old RV is all they could afford, they certainly started out buying and fixing what was needed quickly versus the nickle and dime repair they were trying on the diesel engine of theirs.
