So how about a Boston area CF gether together this season? If interested post and we'll see if it grows into a plan.

Well if I ever get back in the water and make it back up the ditch I'll come by, as long as the get together is later in the year. Maybe even next year.

Hopefully I will get Jerusha Jane "restored" and into the water by mid-July. Would love to meet a few of the local folks.

I'm in, as long as I'm around.

What about having it BEFORE the boating season kicks in while we are all sitting around dreaming?

I'll be in the Boston area next week -- I'm giving a talk at Harvard Biz School. But only around for a few days Too early to go sailing, I guess . . .

Depends on how tough you are.! Suppose to be warm next week (this time of year we talk of 40F as being "warm") but no one has their boat in.

Re: Boston area CF get together

A get together would be a hoot. It would be good to put faces to facades.

I work in Vermont, live south of Boston and keep the boat in Rhode Island, so I'm usually within shouting distance. A visitor from across the pond is a great excuse, but next week probably won't work for me.

I'm not surprised noone has their boats in yet - my converter tells me 40F is like nearly freezing. Yikes.

But it's NOT freezing and that is what we decide to focus on here! New record set the other day, 68! It melted 6" of snow from the week before.

But I was thinking more like in late July/early August.

So who is in? Lots of room for anchoring or catching moorings in the Boston Islands, hiking trails, beachs (rocky), old forts etc.

Or there's Provincetown for the ................ people! New Bedford. Hell Salem (I'll sail out around the harbour and back). Scuiate have to maybe limit number of boats as have to catch a mooring. Plymouth; pain to get into and no anchorages.

Re: Boston Area CF Get Together

So last week was in the 80s, but now we are back to reality of 50 as a high. Boat in the water in a week so maybe it will warm back up some.

Not a lot of takers for a CF get together.

Re: Boston Area CF Get Together

Don,
Cover comes off soon. I'd enjoy meeting up, but it's too soon to say what would work on the water. I'll be in the MA Bay on the way to and from Maine. I don't like to overplan my trips in advance so it's hard to give a firm "yes" to getting together. We jump from P'town. If a meetup there worked, that would be great. Meanwhile, if you want someone to buy you a beer in town or you can't find crew between now and my splash in mid-May, give a shout.

Re: Boston Area CF Get Together

So it's Sept now and time is running out.

We could pick somewhere kind of in the middle of NE like Provincetown. We could take over the anchorage area at Long Point (bring lots of anchor rode).

If there is interest I'll toss out a date and see if it sticks.

Re: Boston Area CF Get Together

The calendar says it is SPRING!

Maybe take another shot at a sailup/boatup this year?
