boat launch & snow

My launch date is in 2 weeks! Now last Wed it was 50 degrees and sunny and I got my shaft back together, but decided to put off some other work because it was still early. But now it is freak-in SNOWING again and it is piling all up. And it isn't suppose to be very warm the next few days to melt it and that only leaves a few days to get boat work done. Tomorrow is SPRING and this is just wrong, wrong, wrong!!

I'm thinking about going down to PA and letting that fancy gopher that said Spring was coming early experience the sharp end of my boat hook!

I could use some help here. Everyone light a fire, spray aerosol cans into the air turn up their house heat, drive around some extra in cars, and whether else they can manage to get some more greenhouse gases flowing!

Anyone else, especially in the old USA Northeast feeling me on this?

There I feel a little better and was just kidding. ......... No I wasn't, go light those fires.

Just talked to a buddy in CT with a Westsail. The snow was so heavy a couple of weeks back it crushed his fancy, expensive, metal framed boat cover which in turned bent a couple of stanchions and such. Now he's got about a foot of snow piled up on his decks.

I received a launch notice for April 24. There is a fresh 6-8" of snow in the driveway today and Saturday's (boat working day) morning temp is forecast to be 21 degrees...brrrrrrr! The list of things to get done before April 24 isn't getting shorter very quickly at all.

I say screw the Michigan apple grower! Give me 70 degree weather in March and apples from Washington.

Blame me. I was thinking of summerising the snowblower and putting it away only to wake up this morning to more snow.
The weather gods were reading my mind and applied the appropriate punishment.

I had never heard of Slaughtering Day before. But that is great! Could have been better if I had been there, and swinging the axe.

Maybe this is just a short step away from expanding it to weather forecasters.

Sharpening the end of my boat hook as we speak so I can join you. Not projected to get out of the 30's until sometime in April here in Minnesota and just received another 6" of snow....sigh.....I miss my boat

+1 I'm working at home today. Took a break at 10AM to go out and snow blow several inches of white sh!t so that when it changed to rain it would clear everything off. I was scheduled to take my cover off in two weeks so that I had time for brightwork, etc. before launching on May 15th. Don, what on earth were you thinking splashing so early? You know it's cold around here for at least another month.

Last out of the water, first in due to where I am in the yard. I like this because if Apr is nice I can sail. If not the boat just stays in the marina. The only catch is that you have to take advantage of "nice" days to get the boat work done.

I've never had to bottom paint with snow on the ground, but .............

Guess now would be a.good time to get back at all of you for crapping on California and all the nasty things youve been saying ..
Todays weather, 71 degrees with à 5to 10 knot breeze, last week wé hit the 80s,
And for the Next week wé will see.mid 70s and confortable breezy conditions...
For all the bad stuff, about this state, sûre love the weather.....and weve been sailing here, lets see,,,,,,,,Hmmm...all winter..

I just sailed my boat from slip to a yard to haul and do some work...this past saturday, hte weather was great...all downwind, wife and i along on the bay...2 days later it snowed....fortunately, it is all melted now and i should be out of the water....i gotta go there this weekend and start a working!

lots to do in the next 30 days to get her as ready as i want....been fabricating all kind of stuff over the winter in the house to be put together in the baot once it gets nice.....this is the latest snow we have had here in md since 2003.

hey been working on the boat the last 2 days. Was in the 50s, which seems pretty nice.

But there was still some snow and ice on the boat yestreday when I first got there.
