Beware using Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbor boatyard. Your boat can be siezed. Your boat will be held hostage until you pay ransom. PM me and I will send you pictures and proof.

Re: Beware work in BVI boatyard

The whole point of a forum like this is to share information. If you don't want to go public with your issue then you shouldn't have posted at all. If you are going to post, then post the information here for everyone to see.

Pretty standard procedure till the bills paid.
Cannot see any yard letting a strange boat go pre-payment.. same in most services.. when you pay.. take it away.

This is a weird thread. You've gotten on a soapbox to disparage a businesses reputation with no details and without giving them the opportunity to defend themselves.

Without some details and facts, this is reading like nothing more than an unsubstantiated temper tantrum.

Bad Form. Try YELP

Bad work? What are we looking at? Sloppy repair weld on a chain plate, a very mangy deck? As said earlier partial information is useless.

Re: Beware work in BVI boatyard

I kept my boat there for 10 years, and had regular maintenance and painting work preformed, and never had a problem. Just remember you are dealing with several different companies, and each has to be paid before the marina will relaunch the boat.

Re: Beware work in BVI boatyard

I've never seen chainplates like that......are the toggles new? what exactly is the problem (other than the oddball chainplate setup and the pins without cotter pins).

You really need to provide some more detail. The Virgin Gorda yard is not a small one, I kept my previous boat there for a couple of years during the hurricane season and never had any issues. The people at the yard and boat industries around that did work for me were all professional.
