Asian Trojan T 105 unreliable

Trojan T105 batteries have been our choice for 30 years.

Here in S.E. Asia the failure rate is high and common knowledge among cruisers.

DON'T BUY TROJAN T105 BATTERIES IN ASIA.

It is in Asia.

Not sure what the complaint is, I'm sure Trojen batteries have a very different profile from Trojan...

Re: Asian Trojan T 105 unreliable

Gee whiz ... one of the four I bought in Florida failed after one week. It was happily replaced. But I would not use this as a criticism of Trojan products - just one isolated incident followed up by great customer service.

Very easy to drop some criticism without all the background. Asia is a big place and standards like in most continents will vary from place to place.

It was many years ago but I bought Trojans in Phuket and the pre-delivery checks etc were by the book and the batteries were still great after ten years.

I like my consumer advice to come with some facts.

Langkawi, Malaysia.

Dealer gets them from Singapore, who says they come from states.

Length of shipping, poor storage, or fakes?

Re: Asian Trojan T 105 unreliable

Sorry to be so vague. I guess getting one year from the battery and having to spend another $220 for replacement pissed me off.

The Trojans come from the U.S. via Singapore. And I had been warned by other yachties, but being a loyal customer wouldn't believe the stories.

Re: Asian Trojan T 105 unreliable

I thought you bought them 2016?

Heat really accelerates aging, especially if not getting topped up in storage.

I would check out what's used by industry or golf courses locally.

Out of curiosity have you contacted the manufacturer with your concerns/experiences ?

Re: Asian Trojan T 105 unreliable

One of the biggest distributors of Trojan in SE Fla, doesn't push them anymore. They said they were having issues with them. They well sell you one, but will recommend another if asked. These guy's trucks are covered in Trojan logos and were once a top distributor. Very convincing, called to order Trojans, bought US Batteries.
