Yacht Brokerage- Georgia

Any ideas on how to get a Georgia yacht broker interested in hiring me as a newbie in the yacht brokerage business? My area has only one broker ( that I know of) that sells used and new sailboats. I just "retired" and can now do something that i really want to do to earn some extra income and have some fun too. I am also available for deliveries. Got the 50T USCG Master ticket.

Congratulations on your "first" retirement. Good luck in the job hunt.

If there is only one broker in your area it sounds like thin pickin's.

Perhaps a meet with the folks and offer up some volunteer work or maybe some work in the yard, or maybe working in the office that could grow into a paid position?

Interested to see how it works out. A small brokerage with small margins probably isn't in a position to expand payroll without some payback.

I was in your situation eight years ago, but in Annapolis where there are lots of brokers.

Your license is a plus but if the one broker is fulll up then your prospects are slim.

As others have noted volunteer work or minimally paid office work can keep you in front of the brokerage, but if they are full, they are full.

You might look at other boating businesses in your area: yacht cleaning, maintenance, insurance and financing. Yacht detailing is a nice business that works with brokers to make their yachts look their best for sales appeal. If there isn't someone in the area dedicated to this niche, start your own. Go see all of the brokers and offer your services to their customers. Even if you start with only one job, word will spread.
