Would this scare you off?

"Within the past year the deck underwent repair to remove wet core on the cabin top forward of the pilot house. Repairs were done professionally and to a high standard."

Had one for 8 years, LOVE that boat, of course not everyone is a 6'10" freak of nature and finds his soulmate sailboat where he can stand out off the weather, SAIL from inside, AND have to reach UP a foot touch the ceiling!

That looks like an amazing boat, ready to sail. Maybe sell the car separately, the boat may still be waiting for you when that is done?

Well, the TP IS upside down on the roller. Who knows what else is wrong with it?

Not really lining up, the boats in Marshfield, MA a 3000 mile road trip add either 3000 mile return ship or an 8000 mile sail back and that 20k "bargain" is looking more like an open tab on your platinum card with a gaggle of russian strippers.

Re: Would this scare you off?

That looks like a very nice Gulf. I almost pulled the trigger on a 32 but the full keel just limits the places I can go in the SF Bay. I did one take one from Sausalito to Half Moon Bay in California as part of a crew and it is very stable and not a bad ride beating north.

Good luck.

Re: Would this scare you off?

Nope. It looks like a very nice boat... both clean condition and a cool design.

The pretty new Leisure Furl Boom sure shows the owner wasn't shy about throwing money at the boat. It was probably pretty close to what he's selling the boat for now.... ouch.

“Pilot house” were the trigger words for me, my GF doesn’t know better than dodgerless sloops without a Bimini, how I get her/keep her below decks at anchor/in port and away from prying eyes of single sailors nearby.

Re: Would this scare you off?

Big fan of the Gulf 32 as we own one

I would ask if they have pictures of the repair being done. If done correctly should be as strong if not stronger than it was. But wet decks have a way of spreading I'd want to know they got all the wet core removed and replaced. If it's "on the cabin top forward of the pilot house" that implies between the pilothouse and the mast, so you would want to know that the mast step is still solid and that nothing around it was damaged by the pressure of the mast when the core was wet. Also that is in area of the main chainplates check to make sure those are still solidly intact. There is headliner above where the repair was, see if there's a way to carefully peel the headliner back and see how things look, and look at the floor boards for evidence of long term leaking that could indicate things are worse than just what was repaired.

Don't see many of these on the East Coast, so not sure what to make of the price, but that is a VERY low price for an '80s Gulf 32, low enough to make me wonder what's wrong with it. G32's of that vintage in above average shape go in the low to mid 30's in the Pacific Northwest.

Not to poach the OP's thread, but what did you feel was limiting about the full keel for SF Bay? At 5'2" draft I find I can get in places lots of deeper fin keel boats can't.

Would not scare me. And you will never regret being able to stand late night watches in terrible weather from the safety of your pilothouse.
