World economic collapse

Economists and business leaders, including Donald Trump, have predicted an economic crisis in 2014 similar to the one of the 1920's.
After browsing the topic, I've noticed that there are quite a number who agree with this view, and advise to move equity into gold as the world stock markets will likely collapse. Huh! (Scratching my head)
Also sites, to prepare you for this doom, have sprung up. According to them millions of Americans are storing emergency supplies as well as extra amo in the event of total anarchy.
Self sufficient cruisers, with their water makers and personal power supplies, are well prepared for such a scenario. Some only need to grab that extra bottle of hot sauce and they are good to go.
Is this just exaggerated paranoia or are we in for tough times ahead.
What are your thoughts on this scary subject?

Not a Trump fan either, but he is not the only crackpot with this view.

Actually this is coming from our good friends at NASA. I'm guessing they had a lot of rocket scientists with too much time on their hands.

NASA funded study concludes that the end times are nigh - Houston Space news | Examiner.com

Though I would not be surprised that they might be on to something in the 50-150 year time frame.

So, what's suppose to happen in 2014 to set this off? What's new?

Re: World economic collapse

Well the economists will be right eventually. But being right at the wrong time is no different to being wrong. As the guy who predicted the 1930's depression discovered by shorting way too soon and going bankrupt before the depression started.

You must always remember that the definition of an economist is someone who "knows their own phone number, approximately".

Due out December 2015, so I'm hoping things hold together until then.

More doom and gloom threads then. What happened to having a laugh and some fun? Seems that misery and negativity is all some folks live for.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Didn't like his take on Star Trek...

Re: World economic collapse

Steady on now. No one's talking about the end of the world. Economies around the world have been struggling, some of which are being " propped up " , while others are just treading water. I have not seen any signs of an economic upturn in the near future and, like many others, I am interested to hear realistic opinions on this.
When enough people head off in one direction, there will be many uncertain sheep that will follow. Take this chap who now has a fat mattress.
