Where to shop for liability insurance? Canadian boat going to Mexico.

Actually I was at el paraso marina in Isla Mujeres many times legally checked in, never asked for insurance.

Mexico requires liability insurance from a Mexican domiciled company. Two companies that supply it are Novamar and Ace Seguros both can be found on the internet and insurance can be purchased online with a credit card. Novamar can also write hull insurance. On hull insurance, you need to make sure it provides insurance for the location you will be at during Hurricane season.

Vagamundos del Mar. They are a US travel club in San Diego. They sell their members reasonably priced insurance, covering almost anything. Also lots of info on the happenings in Baja. Last time I checked, dues were $25 a year.

That's what I would do. But you need to look at pricing from someone like progressive, US ans see what the price is. You may want to just get it for a year if it's only $300.

I've used Dolphin for the last few years too. Don't know how good they are to deal with as I haven't had a claim. Generally, insurance makes you feel secure until you need it.
A good insurance company is worth their weight in gold, I'm seeing that first hand right now in Fort Mac, some companies are helping, some are looking for loop holes. You're wise in asking these questions.

Please keep us informed, i have loyds through bluewater ins in florida that covers mexico, but i understood you had to have ins from a mexican company? Be good to know they accept it.
