Where David sails is beautifully scenic, well placed for France, not too far from Spain AND you have to be one hell of a sailor. With 36 foot tides, 5 knot and more races and overfalls and a myriad of rocks lurking, just waiting for the moment your attention wanders, you really need to know what you're doing, but I'm sure David's too modest to tell you that.

Yeah Me Father also kept a boat their back in the 1970's - so I have clambered over most of those rocks, the Napoleonic era fort and the Nazi occupation bunker fortifications

Albeit our more observant members will have noticed a distinct lack of stories about sailing adventures in recent times - and been too polite to mention it

$700/month goes into the 'boat account'. One way or another it always empties out (slip fees, maint, upgrades...).

The big fixed things are $2600 for summer slip. $3500 for winter haul-out (every third year) and yard storage. $250 for winter in-water (two out of three years).
