Teak Deck
If I were to remove the Teak deck of my boat, would it be worth the effort to salvage the wood? It seems to be in good shape, but I don't want to put in the effort if it is not cost effective.

Re: Teak Deck
I am in the process of cutting my losses in this boat. I can remove all that is salvageable and sell it piece by piece. It is too damaged and too expensive to restore. The teak looks good. I was just wondering if anyone (who knows more than I do) thought it would be worth salvaging the teak.

Re: Teak Deck
You can check with a specialty lumber store, or if there is a marine restorer locally they may be interested in it. It really just depends on the size of the boards, and their condition.
The upside is that if they are interested they may also be willing to come and remove it for you.

Re: Teak Deck
Thanks Greg, I will check Google to look for stores close to my area. There should be some near one of the Great Lakes.

Re: Teak Deck
I have a CT 43 with a teak deck. I was going to try to restore it. I have reconsidered my task and would either like to find a buyer for her or sell the parts. It also comes with a low boy trailer.

Re: Teak Deck
Me and the boat are located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. To tell you the truth, I don't want to scrap it. I am just frustrated with the idea of spending a lot of money and not being able to work on it in the winter because it's too cold and the summer because it's too hot.
Where are you?

Re: Teak Deck
Sorry, I just looked at your profile and you are in California. I have been sailing the Great Lakes for a few years now, and I was planning on sailing this boat there.

Re: Teak Deck
Chances are that if the bedding compound is any good you will just have a bunch of kindling by the time you get it off. Better to sell the whole thing to another dreamer!

Re: Teak Deck
Hello Lou
I seem to have 2 user id's here. stevensa and sailing_jack.
I am in eastern Ontario, and sail in Lake Ontario
I am working on a CT 35, but I keep thinking I should have gone with a CT 41.
There are more of them around, and lots of info on them.
What is your deal on the CT 41? What needs to be done?
