Surveyor in Curacao second try

Looking at a boat in Curacao. Have only found one surveyor through the internet. Anyone with experience having a boat surveyed for purchase on the Island?
Thanks

I'm no expert but Edwin Versteeg info@edyachtdesign.com did a good job.

Re: Surveyor in Curacao second try

Thanks Chris,

We tried to reach out to Edwin but never got a reply -- maybe just bad timing. We leave Saturday for Curacao and the survey next week. Ended up with Alex Stoll with Almaco Marine Projects for the survey (almacoontour@gmail.com). He has kept in good contact leading up to the survey and helped set up details. Will share any comments after the survey is complete.

Also anxious to see the boat, a Moody 425.

Hi Tom, how was your experience with Alex Stoll in the end?

Thanks in advance

Re: Surveyor in Curacao second try

Alex did a very thorough, professional job for us. He spent a lot of time with an associate and everything he said has played out. He gave good advice when asked without pushing himself.
He is not cheap but we thought it value for the money. We have remained in contact.
Having said that, Alex is a blunt character and can be off putting to some. We came to know that he is not particularly liked by the staff at Curacao Marine, but they were cooperative. It may be that they don’t get a cut.
People we know and value do like Edwin Versteeg, and he is the more popular choice by cruisers.
Overall though, Alex was the right person for us.
