Stay away from Pantaenius Yacht Insurance Why? read below..

I decided to write this review after having been unfairly treated by Pantaenius Yacht Insurance. Damage or destruction from a collision, fire or lightning obviously are not a liability under premium given by Pantaenius. Funny right? But Believe this is not just all. After having a catastrophic event, customer service is the second the worst thing that could happen to you. Their approach is basically finding little things for tipping the scale for their advantage towards not paying you the liabilities. At least they could have said “We are sorry for your loss bla bla bla”. Instead of that we stumbled upon to those very rude, unattentive, condescending people. It was quite shocking to see how tables turned around on our disadvantage. After paying all those ridiculously expensive premiums for all those years you would expect a coverage for your losses at a reasonable rate and decent customer relations but Pantaenius Yacht Insurance is just about advertisement rest is empty just like their coverage. If you had similar experiences like us please share it and avoid other people getting hammered by Pantaenius Yacht Insurance.

Hell of a first post, mate. You make a lot of pretty strong statements condemning this company but do not include ANY information to support your claims of terrible and unfair service. If you want us to believe that you have been so abused, some supporting facts would help your cause. Without them, my reaction isn't in your favour.

Pantaneous has been around for a long time and has a reasonable reputation in the cruising world. You are asking us to ignore that... why should we?

Your post just sounds like a lot of disjointed ramblings?
Tell us exactly what happened so we can judge for ourselves.
Pantaenius has always treated my customers fairly.
Cheers

Well on the positive side, we had a claim with Jackline/IMIS and they were polite and incredibly helpful.

Best insurance company I have ever dealt with!

Keep in mind folks that Pantaenius USA is not the same as Pantaenius Euro, big difference. The USA is a franchise and marches to a different drummer. I'm not saying it's bad or good but just because you may be delighted with Pantaenius in Britain for example and your happy with your policy and fee structure don't expect the same structure in the USA. We were insured with Pantaenius when we cruised the Med for 2 years.our premiums were very reasonable but when we crossed the Atlantic they would no longer insure us and said we had to deal with the USA branch. Different policy, less coverage and rates were double. For convenience we used them for a year and then changed over to a Canadian company where our rates went down and coverage went up. The USA is the world's most litigious society and I'm sure that has something to do with it. I have no experience with the USA branch personally when it comes to claims.

Hey Jeff, is this you?

Looks like you've at least got the credentials of a good captain. But your public web forum etiquette leaves a lot to be desired.

Pantaenius UK has been excellent with me.. surveyor was on the boat 48hrs after a lightning strike in Mallorca 1997.. settled full replacement costs of damaged equipment in short order.
My experience of them has been above and beyond what one would normally expect from an insurer.. have not ever felt the need to go elsewhere.
Cannot fault them.

Sorry for your experience, Jeff.

We are insured with Pantaenius (Germany) and made a claim for lightning damage 9 years ago. In our case, as others have said, they were great and settled in a very fair way.

I would strongly recommend Pantaenius.

Dockhead, a member of this forum, also has had extraordinarily good response from Pantaeneus in England.

Re: Stay away from Pantaenius Yacht Insurance Why? read below..

The boat beside me came loose and did $5,000 damage to my boat because the ropes were old and they broke away in a 35kn wind.

Pantaenius called it an act of god and refused to pay a cent.

I don't want to be parked anywhere near some boat insured with them.

My personal experience is they are dodgy.
