Sailing Cruiser - Insurance

I am in the process of purchasing a 473 Beneteau with intentions of cruising for the next 5-8 years in the Caribbean basin. One of the surprises that I have been exposed to is the reluctance of Insurance Companies to insure my not yet purchased Beneteau. Hurricane paths?????? Liveaboard????
I have the experience, admittedly, the majority of my sailing time was in the Chesapeake Bay area.
Anyone with thoughts and suggestions???

Al Golden at IMIS insurance offers worldwide coverage for sailing yachts. He insured us using the Jackline Policy from Australia to the USA. You simply give him your itinerary, and he gives you a quote. If you change your itinerary, your premium will adjust up or down.

He will quote premiums for hurricane season that varies according to your location. If our boat is north of Brunswick, Georgia in hurricane season, our premium is $1200 less. If it is south of Brunswick, it is $1200 more.

IMIS was also helpful when we needed an insurance survey in Turkey. Instead of having to pay over a thousand dollars to a LLoyds surveyor to come from Marmaris, they accepted the report of a local surveyor who was the director of the yard in Finike, Turkey.
