refrigerator grey market

Question guys: I want a Engel refer. I can buy one in Australia (the one I want) for about 800 AUD. Now that is 600 USD. If I come over and buy it and ship it back, how much is it going to cost me in shipping and customs? Slowboat of course.
Weight:75 lbs
Am I still allowed to take up to 10000 AUD good out of the country?
Thanks for your time.

I paid $850 for my engel, it's the cooler model. I don't recall ever seeing an engel for $600 or less. All prices in USD

Fly to the US to save a couple hundred? Also consider cost of freight insurance, risk of loss or damage, your time and money shopping around in the US, no warranty, no direct comeback with a retailer, if over $1000 you'll pay gst and import duty., fees to exporter/importer, nervous wait for maybe months, etc, etc, etc.

Re: refrigerator grey market

From the responses it is clear I wasn't clear. I wish to go to Australia, convert my dollars to Australian Dollars, buy the refer and ship it back. Would someone just tell me how much it costs to ship a 32kg package from Aust to west coast USA? If I can do it for under 200 I can save money this way. Plus I can see my Aussie mates.

Re: refrigerator grey market

It is normally cheaper to take it as luggage. The refrigerant could be a problem. Check with various airlines like with Emirates. And your 's customs, etc, agree to let you bring in such device in your luggadge.

FedEx is always wildly more expensive. Call a freight forwarding service in Oz and get a quote. Surface transport, ship, is usually best for heavy/bulky stuff.

Re: refrigerator grey market

I don't know if these guys handle shipments from Australia, but for Europe to the USA they are a great choice. Your shipment will wait until they have a container going. They will also handle all paper work.
