Novice Insurance -Coastal Med

Any advice appreciated. The insurance companies won't talk seriously to me until I actually 'own' the boat - which I won't until next spring - so here we go.

Both me and my wife hold RYA Day Skipper licences and have some coastal and a little offshore experience. We intend to take our 38ft catamaran (£150k) from north west Spain to, initially, Barcelona over a season or so.

My fear is that I will be penalised for 'only' having Day Skipper (converts to ICC) qualifications and only be a two person crew.

My hope is to be insured for a reasonable charge without having to force feed ourselves on sailing courses in order to reduce charges? Is this how insurance costs work?

My hope is to pursue Coastal/Yachtmaster accreditations after gaining more practical experience.

As ever, all input appreciated. Jon.
