Money Money Money
do you guys ever just wake up one day and ask yourself..."self, do i really need this?" i have found myself doing this lately. there are a few items that i have realized i can do without in order to set aside a few more dollars for my dream to one day "sail off into the sunset" LOL. i almost bought a new .45 and i stopped myself, almost put some new pipes on the truck, almost upgraded my computer, the list goes on and on and on....then i realized hey...i have guns....i have pipes on the truck...i have a good computer.....what i dont have however is a friggin boat!
i had to do a good prioritization/slapping of myself to get my financial decisions back into line....

Re: money money money
Since we are in the market for a new and larger boat, I have to stop myself from buying every cheap, but nice boat I see on yacht world. Most I see don't meet our minimum criteria and I find myself saying, well do we really need the extra...
Then again, I stop myself from buying other stuff I don't really need, so I CAN get the boat I really want, and more important, WHEN I want.

Welcome to CF loop!
I ask myself the question all the time.... Nope, don't need that..... But I WANT IT! In the end, I eventually buy it. That is one of the nice things about being a childless, dual income couple... We do spoil ourselves!

That happened to me today. I hit the send button for some stuff from Sailrite for about $100. This morning I find I "NEED" a jiffy reefing system.
Thank heavens I don't get that bug with electronics!

Depends on what your priority is. Obviously it's not a boat with some of the things mentioned, and that's okay. We all get through life differently, and this is just another example of how diverse we are.........i2f

Re: money money money
I hear you. I just bought a new car, (would rather have bought a new boat), but need to go to work, and old one 10 years old was scrap. I told my wife this will be the last one we ever buy. I bought the cheapest one I could find.
Now I'm downsizing, we just gave away furnature. house has more room, and the hammock doubles as couch, and bed. We are going to continue to give stuff away until whats left fits on a boat.
One of my co workers just retired at 55, I'm going to try for 50, just 5 years left, if I put every penney into cruising kitty. The car has a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty. So it had better not cost me a dime until I sell it. I'm moving into apartment to rent out house, (no way I can sell it right now), but maybe in 5 years?

I told my wife the other day I was selling off most of my weapons, even went so far as taking some out and laying them on the floor to take pictures for a gunbroker.com listing... but that was as far as I got. I just can't do it. She wasn't surprised.. said something about us men and our guns. Sorry, no stainless 1911's but an old gov model with ace conversion and a cco from colt. I was actually going to photo the 1911 w/ace conv. you'd think I could spare one.

Re: money money money
loop,
It is easy to sometimes lose our way on our way to the dream. What I have always done is print out tons of pictures, and staple them to a wall I look at often. I am constantly reminded of what direction I am seeking, and find myself drifting from that direction very rarely. ........ i2f

Re: money money money
Buy the boat and throw the guns away. Don't even try to sell them for some idiot to abuse.
