Forgive me, if this sounds stupid, but why do you need "live aboard" insurance? What is the difference? If the boat sinks, catches fire, or is damaged and the insurance company pays, what is the difference? Our insurance was $4500 for a year. A bit expensive in my book but Will cover a complete loss. We have a 60' Chris Craft. We are not currently living aboard but will be in the next couple of months. Having some work done right now. Custom interior work and new satellite system for TV, Internet, phones and such while out at sea. All of this is rather expensive and we will be increasing our insurance to cover this. Am I missing something? do I need live aboard insurance?

Re: Insurance for Liveaboards

In your situation, it is important to use an insurance company that specializes in marine insurance. Contact Pete at Anchor Marine Underwriters in Mercer Island, WA. He lives on his boat and can point you in the right direction.

Note: I am not affiliated with Pete nor Anchor Marine Underwriters.

Re: Insurance for Liveaboards

Boat/US is the gold... but only for it's prices....
I ended up with Allied. They give the same insurance and they were $1200 a year less. In Florida a lot of companies make you leave during hurricane service or will not cover wind damage or (in some cases) damage by a named storm. I'm covered for all of it..
Allied does it all.
We've been full time liveaboards for over 12 yrs now and are very happy with them....
