Dry marinas on the gold coast

Looking for reasonable dry marina on the Gold Coast ...especially if I can use my trailer to save on in and outs. Thanks in advance.

According to press reports, The Boat Works recently completed the first dry marina in Australia.

Won't be easy to find. They're big drinkers in SEQ.

Re: Dry marinas on the gold coast

Not sure what you mean by "dry marina". There is a rack storage kinda place at Runaway Bay... they pick up smaller boats on a kind of forklift and stuff them into a huge set of bins on shore.. if that's what you are after.

There's another one at East Coast marina in Manyl harbour.

Gold Coast City Marina up the Coomera River has a large, indoor dry storage and launch facility

Well, that's a heck of a sales pitch.

I clicked on this thread because I thought someone was after the OTHER sort of dry marina. I was kinda fascinated because I sure can't imagine such a thing anywhere in Oz.

Re: Dry marinas on the gold coast

It's not the Gold Coast but there's one further north on the Mary River which suffers temporary dryness on Friday mornings after the Thursday night barbecue.

Re: Dry marinas on the gold coast

Perhaps he meant "dry martini"... available in many yacht clubs in Oz

There are at least two in Sydney.

Being a friend of Bill W. (founder of AA) I thought you were looking for a marina that didn't allow alcohol. Good luck with that among sailors! Especially in Oz...
It's not so far fetched, though. Here in the USA we have lot's of Native American casinos, and many of those are 'dry'. No matter how big and glitzy they are, no alcohol is allowed. Sorry I can't help you with 'the dry' marina.

I think The Boat Works marina, just north of Southport, is a very good facility.
I've been there and I think I saw a haul out ramp but I can't be positive.

Re: Dry marinas on the gold coast

Gold Coast City Marina and Runaway Bay both have dry storage. Not sure if you can use your trailer or not as both lift in / out with converted forklift.

Seabird,

Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club has trailer boats on trailers in a parking lot. You probably would have to join the Club. However, the train stops about a 10 min. walk from the marina, and there is a good chandlery across the street, who will price match Whitworths, also an IGA and a bottle shop nearby.

Re: Dry marinas on the gold coast

Is "bottle shop" code for "liquor store"?--If so, why not just come out and say it?
(Just sayin')
