Re: Dream boat or Disaster?

We already covered that.

That Beneteau sells for $40K in semi okay shape (You can find one at that price if you hunt). This boat for $12K, plus another $8-12K for an engine + tranny, Plus re-seating the Keel ($500 DIY) or $3K if you pay, Plus Paint, Electronics, Boat yard rent, numerous trips to Key West, Insurance etc etc etc.. Would cost around 30K.

I HAVE 20K, a buddy will pay up to 10K. Then we would have to sell the boat, buy a cheaper boat and do it again. BECAUSE we'd be to broke to sail.

Again, THAT is why we said no on that boat (again, if I had another $10K I might do it anyway). However I DID research the boat! If you fixed it and sold it in the Mediterranean? You could make an EXTRA $10K over U.S. value.

It just doesn't work for my budget. Believe me, I tried!! (NO DEBT!!)

Re: Dream boat or Disaster?

Vance, yes you are definitely doing the right math, good luck with the Peterson, I have heard good things about them.
