Cost to hire a captain?

I live up near Everett, Wa., and am looking to purchase a sailboat 28-32' learn/live on. I am looking as far as the Oregon coast for the right boat. My question is, say I find the perfect boat but she's on the southern Oregon coast.....what could I expect to pay to hire someone to sail her up here to me? And is there a time of year that's better than another for this trip? Thanks to any that reply!

for a 28'-32' boat you may be better off trucking it up the coast, especially if it's new to you. That can be a rough sail.

Agreed that is the best way to go this time of year you get strong NW'ly off the Oregon coast that can make for a crummy ride home.
