Cost of Going Through the Canal

Does anyone know the cost of going thru the Panama Canal in a 56' sail boat and what is the wait to go thru.

Maritime Services - PanCanal.com

Official web home, tariff (rate) page. Drill down and you'll find it firsthand.

The wait can vary - plenty of anecdotes here: Noonsite: Panama

The true total cost will be about $2,000, and the wait up 2-10 days, depending on when you go. This will include, the canal, agent, cruising permit, and marina.

Go around the Horn. Not only do you save the money not going through the canal, but after the sailors at the yacht club see the pics you were actually there you'll never pay for a beer again. Anywhere !

Re: Cost of Going Through the Canal

We paid a total of $1160 last June. Including line, tires, handlers, and broker. We used Shelter Bay on the north end for a fee of about $350 for a week. The south end has anchorages to use........i2f
