Cost of Going Cruising

Two young cruisers have itemized the cost of rehabbing an old boat and their monthly expenses, to the penny at Picaroon Blog | BETTER DROWNED THAN DUFFERS IF NOT DUFFERS WONT DROWN.

Re: Cost of going cruising

No doubt the cost to cruise rests with how you want to live. A wonderful lady cruiser here in Australia lives on a shoestring of about $17,000 per year, while retired friends of hers " exist on about $11,000 & $5,000 each! My plan is to return to living aboard in retirement on approx $25,000 income which seems to equate well especially having the experience of sailing around the world in early ninties spending no more than $10,000 per yr over the 6 years we were away!
Society today it seems to me is in a steep decline regarding quality of life living for low income people with pensioners here in WA unable to afford their basic staples of heating and power bills and general expenses. Not for me, I'll go sailing and be self contained as far as possible in preparation for the finacial mayhem to come. See you out there!
