Re: CA & Vancouver Use Tax for non-residents

There's about 1/3 of the vessels moored at Van Isle flying US flags. If I was the OP I'd phone either Van Isle or Port Sidney and start asking questions.

Better to contact Canada Customs. Van Isle isn't an authority.

Re: CA & Vancouver Use Tax for non-residents

If you look at the other big boating states like Maryland, Florida and Texas, they have a cap on their sales tax at somewhere around $12K. California gets you for the full Monty! Most places in CA are just over 10% and is why marinas in Ensenada Mexico are full of US flagged boats that are in "tax jail". If you take off shore delivery you get a 12 month sentence that needs to be highly documented, non- residence only get a 6 month stint.

Rich,
Come up to Oregon:
Registration is about 150 year
No sales tax
No boat tax.
I will help you find a place and even sail across the bar with you (if you want to come that far north!)
Lots cheaper than WA, BC or CA
