My original post is wrong.

I meant to Post HST but posted GST

prior to BC agreeing With Ottawa to impliment the HST (Harmonised Sales Tax) there Was provincial sales tax and the Federal GST (Goods and Service Tax)

Imopriting a boat From US if built in North America has no Duty payable.
If not Built in N America duty is payable even if already paid to import in to USA last I checked 9%.

Sales Tax is payable just as if bought in BC.
I bought my boat Prior to the HST. PST was payable 7% GST was not aplied to used boats so GST was not payable.

According to Broker I asked about tax on purchase of a boat in BC.

When HST was addopted it does not apply to boats so a Tax equivelent to the HST was applyied to inres the Sales Tax on boats from 7% to 12%.
HST is repealed effective 1st April 2013 and Bc returnes to a provincial sales Tax plus GST.

What happens to the 12% I don't know beacuse the Broker I asked didn't know.

Best to wait till after April 1st if you are bying a boat for Use in BC
