Brokers Could Learn from this FSBO Presentation

Both brokers and many FSBO's that post here ... you know, boat for sale, call me for price and pics types... should take heed of this great presentation of a boat for sale (no... I have no affiliaton with the seller).

Aside from the many pictures, good descriptoin of systems, what is most impressive is that the boat is clean.

How many times have we seen boats with all sorts of junk lying around, looking untidy, and the seller wondering why there is little response.

I suspect the good brokers already know to coach their clients to do the cleanup before the advertising pics get taken. Others just want the listing.

Ain't that the truth? Well presented, makes me want to fly down to give her a look over, and I'm not in the market.
She looks well cared for, a very good reason to keep her clean, and from the description, will be until she's sold.

Thanks for posting this, it shows the standards that could be (should be?) achieved by sellers interested in making the best presentation.

You could almost do a survey from the pics. Lot of boat for the money.

All I can say is, AMEN!! Most potential buyers dream of ads like this. Very informative, excellent pics and all very recent.. They did a great job and hope they do well in selling her.. It's also good to know that there are people out there that actually have a clue!! Thanks

Re: Brokers Could Learn from this FSBO Presentation

Compare the pictures in that link of the FSBO with these photos from a broker's ad:

Do they really expect to sell this boat with pictures of it looking dirty and completely junky!?!

I suspect the owner of the boat in the first posting on this thread is going to sell his boat quickly and for a good price, while the boat above is going to languish on the market for a very long time (in fact, it already has) and will sell for well less than the asking price.

Hey wow! We used to live in Apex, NC. The house you're selling is only a few miles down the road from where we used to live, in the Shepherd's Vineyard neighborhood. Small world.

I caught this listing before you mentioned it and had perused it for a possibility. My biggest question was the legit of it, or whether it was a honey trap given its location.

I got the ad from a twitter notice from a blog I follow http://windtraveler.blogspot.com/ (Great young couple, and she writes almost as well as Taru)>

Here is a screen shot of that Tweet (I don't know how else to copy it here)

Sometimes it is OK to be skeptical, but if your really serious, it seems to me this is a great one to follow up on.

Let me put it another way, ..... why would you NOT followup on it?

Always liked those rather unusual Ericson 36's. Nice looking boat.

I think also the circumstances of the boat origin affect the price...

from their web site:
"We purchased San San February 2009. San San was partially sunk in fresh water for 4 hours a couple months prior. We cleaned her out, used west system epoxy on settee and bed decks sanded and awl-gripped most of the interior cubbies and bilges. We re-powered her with a Westerbeke 30bThree that had 200 hours. All cushions and beds are new.

The electrical systems have been 99.9% removed and replaced with tinned copper wire, new panels and switches. "

I worry when I see something like 99.9%. Why not 100%?

Are there gremlins waiting to appear?

The great part is that they are CLEAR, HONEST with details about what has happened in the past, and that is a model for a good ad...

Saw this earlier via Windtalker, too...great presentation! Maybe it's only 99.9% rewired because it mentioned later that the mast has not been rewired. Nice looking boat, hope it sells quik.

At least it would only be 0.1% of the wiring.
