Interestingly enough they haven't been able to sell one Sense 55 in the USA since they introduced it in Miami
Wonder if the wiz bang Dock & Go system + hull area allocated for engine have boxed in Yanmar / Beneteau.......

Oh well, lots more options out there - good luck

Re: Beneteau Discount on New Yacht

I don't think so.
The 110hp is only 20+ pounds heavier and the same size as the 75hp engine

I am sure they will work it out sooner or later.

Like you said - lots of options out there.

I suspect the added torque from the larger engine exceeds what the drive/gearbox can handle.

that is what I meant by wiz bang Dock & Go - but described much better by TO.

Are there any Dock & Go systems in a Beneteau or Jeanneau with a 110 hp Yanmar? I looked quickly at a couple of larger Jeanneaus and they only mention 75 hp with Dock & Go.

You mean we would buy our boats at Wal-Mart?

I had the 110hp on the 50 and it was massively overpowered
They have it right on the sense

Dock and go is brilliant

Looking to purchase a new sense 55
the boat is grossly underpowered
waiting until they put in a larger engine either the 110 or 125 hp
I think they will do that by next year.
they have been getting complaints from all over the world that it is underpowered
See above

Congratulations and good luck.

The Sense was my first choice
Neither the dealer or my self nor the magazines that reviewed it indicated speed above 7.5kts at 3000rpm.
They must have changed something for you to get the speed you indicated.

I ordered a Leopard 48 instead

Re: Beneteau Discount on New Yacht

I have purchased 7 boats, 4 new. Key is the dealer. I have had exceptional service and warranty support. I bought first jeanneau 42 ds in us. Had to fly to France to see it. Process was simple and everyone helpful. Thinking about sense 55. I assume will work just as we'll. I don't think you will get big discount off of "real" retail price. Our dealer lists inflated price and will discount. I generally look at Beneteau.hr - Official Beneteau dealer in Croatia in Croatia. I think that is real price. Shipping and commissioning are big costs and not included. Almost all new boats are powered at 2.5 hp per 1000 lbs so perhaps 75 hp is low. However, I motor at 2400 rpm with my 20000 lb jeanneau all day long in real world conditions at 7.1 knots using 20 hp with the 53 hp rated yanmar. The key is the prop. i always use maxprop as you can adjust pitch and they work incredibly well in reverse. Diesels can be run hard so I think the 75 hp will be fine. I have had yanmar a for 23 years and never a problem. The 75 hp size is limiting factor with current dock and go.
