has changed significantly since I was last insured with them Oct 2011. When I sold my boat at the end of last year, I had been insured by RACQ. It was a 28 footer listed as moored in the Fitzroy River, Rockhampton. No problems.
Today I contacted RACQ as I have been looking around at boats and wondered about insurance
. Much to my astonishment, I was told that I could not insure with them any boat I bought. Reason? I would have the boat on a swing mooring
on the river.
I could get insurance only if the boat was in a "mooring facility which is: (a) permanently fenced off to the general public and has 24 hour 7 days a week security
surveillance; or (b) is moored to a private jetty at your residential property."
I am shocked about the insurance change but I guess that is the industry. I'll have to look elsewhere.
I guess there may be other folk insured with RACQ who may find themselves without insurance since not everyone can comply with what RACQ want.
