I'm at a loss as to what is a good RTW cruiser without the absurd price tag?
I won't touch new as quality of build is just not there anymore.

I am planning to refit the boat for comfortable single handed sailing which upper limits me to (atm) to 42' that & berthing fees get out of shape over 13m

So am looking for advice as to a decent yacht allowing for refitting naturally,
so far have been checking over bav 42's & the bene 411's

so am looking for advice from owners as to what to look for

There are literally tons of boats that would fit the bill. It comes down to what you like, what you are comfortable refitting and what your preferences are.

For instance what is more important to you speed or sea kindliness? Do you want something that is more stable at anchor or faster while underway? Do you want to limit your refitting to upgrading removable equipment or are you comfortable with beefing up your rigging, tankage, etc.?

There are too many variables and instances for anyone to say "this is the boat for you". Best thing to do is to start sailing on OPB and looking at every boat you can to see what strikes your fancy and what features you want. Personally, I think if budgetary constraints are at all an issue it pays to have a list of boats that would work, rather than limiting yourself to a particular model.

Only allowing £100k as a full refit will be in the region of £50k

when my father was still a master ship wright....& owned the boat yard

Mimsy my intent was to buy the boat & strip it out to fit it my preferences,
I do unfortunatley know I will have to bow to "she who must be obeyed" in handling so am stuck with muddle of road philosphy
