9 years of cost data

Sorry this is late but I have no excuse except being lazy. Attached is 9 years of cost data. This past year we sailed from Kusadasi north looking for Zorba the Greek, to Thessaloniki then down to Crete and across to Rhodes and finally Marmaris. It was a good start but after Evia Island it was not a good year. We sat in Evia for maybe a week waiting for the meltimi to die down then had to run between hard meltimi winds the rest of the trip. In Crete we hit something in the water and broke our Brunton prop and had to haul and send it to UK to be repaired. We had to stay in a hotel and eat out a lot. On our way from Rhodes to Marmaris the top of a thru hull let go so another haul out and quick repair. Our goal was to sail to Israel for the winter but the stress just took to great a toll on us and we wanted a leisurely sail down the Turkish coast so we decided to hang it up early and took a slip for a year in Netsel as it was cheaper than 7 months and we are very close to town (pattys idea). I also had to fly back to the USA to renew my drivers license has I had done it one time on line already and they wanted to see me in person.

Hope this helps those doing some planning.

If I am reading it correctly, it is actually $3218 per month on average, not per year. So, just shy of $39000.00 per year. Unless of course, line 5 has been mislabelled.

I see. The data was previously averaged for the year. Thanks.

Damn, I am way more frugal than I thought!!

This is extremely useful. Thank you. Would you say you have a comfortable/average cruising lifestyle? Could it be done on much less? Does this include trips back to your home country?

This is one of the best posts for someone considering liveaboard. There's lots of info out there that cover the costs of cruising but most leave out boat upgrades and expenses.

And did you notice your Internet went from 0.02% to almost 2% in 7 years?

Budawang this includes every penny we spend regardless on whatever. We have not gone back to the USA in a while.

As for comfortable? Yes we are very comfortable. We travel inland a lot and try not to miss a thing. The thing we do not do a lot of is eating out but we do some. We probably live and eat better out here than we would in the USA.

Yea we know it went it up. We discovered how to watch American college football, movies and tv on the internet for free. So we go through a lot of internet. Last year before the Oscars came out we had seen all but 2 of the movies on the internet for free.

Internet plans are inexpensive over here and we use a lot of it. There are some marinas where we have wintered over with free internet but most are not fast enough to stream college football games.
