Sailnet, Panbo, Sailinganarchy, NHC, SeaLifeBase, Sailboatdata, Yachtsworld..... There are plenty in English, loads in French (better in racing than English but less extensive info on the cruising wing) and decent numbers in any sailing nations' languages.

Designer's sites, owners' associations, authorities' sites, blogs.

www.Ashoreschool.com is a free eLearning site for the new sailor. The Lessons section covers a lot of the basics in a building block format. From the feedback so far, it should help.

I mean there is no such thing as 'advanced' level of blogs/sites etc.. Off course, some can be more niche than others: only cruising, only racing, multi racing, AC racing, etc.

(Actually, the AC sites and blogs can now be renamed to "how to sue your opponent when you are incapable of beating them on the water" ;-)))) Thus - they would no longer be sailing blogs/sites but rather para- legal ;-))))

Hi Azura!

I am new here, and since this is the first (and only) forum I belong to, I can't help with your question.

I noticed that you own a Lido 14. So do I, although I haven't used her in years, due to the difficulty of trailering her without a car. (And also the bad experiences with a now EX-boyfriend.) Are you new to sailing, or just to cruising.

One place you may look is the Lido 14 class association. If there is a fleet in your area, that would be an excellent way to meet sailors familiar with your specific boat. And racing is a great way to improve your skills.

Though I feel the need to add a disclaimer: I haven't raced my Lido, mostly because I dread the bus ride of over an hour, and the expense at joining the club where the races are held.

And thanks for getting me to look for the Lido 14 class association. Maybe I will take my own advice!

One of the most important things we did to prepare our boat and ourselves for our circumnavigation was to spend lots of time on the SSCA (Seven Seas Cruising Association) bulletin board. The SSCA bulletin board is frequented by long term cruisers and experts on a myriad of topics. My husband says "Most importantly, I learned what I didn't know, which turned out to be quite a bit." One doesn't have to be a member of the SSCA to frequent the board. There is a link to it on SSCA.org.

Cruiser's blogs are also a really good source of information and inspiration. Ours has links to blogs of other cruisers in the sidebar.
