I noticed that you own a Lido 14. So do I, although I haven't used her in years, due to the difficulty of trailering her without a car. (And also the bad experiences with a now EX-boyfriend.) Are you new to sailing, or just to cruising.

One place you may look is the Lido 14 class association. If there is a fleet in your area, that would be an excellent way to meet sailors familiar with your specific boat. And racing is a great way to improve your skills.

Though I feel the need to add a disclaimer: I haven't raced my Lido, mostly because I dread the bus ride of over an hour, and the expense at joining the club where the races are held.

And thanks for getting me to look for the Lido 14 class association. Maybe I will take my own advice!

Hey Mary,

What year is your LIDO? Right now I'm just learning how to sail, but I hope to some time soon get into racing. I'm not sure if my LIDO will make it though ahahah, she needs a lot of work but things are starting to come together. Welcome to the forum, I hope your enjoying it. I'm learning a lot and I am a new member as well.

The number on my sail is 23, if I remember correctly. I assume that is her hull number, also. So I am guessing my Lido is from 1958 or 1959. This makes us the same age. (I was born in 1958.) My gal needs a lot of work, too. She has been sitting uncovered in the driveway, and the varnish is peeling off of her centerboard trunk and rudder.

How old is your Lido?

PL

Well, one of the real pleasures of owning the Lido is that there is not MORE boat to spend money on!
