Voyager's Handbook

I am looking for an electronic (PDF, not kindle) version of The Voyager's Handbook. I already have the actual book and want to be able to search via my tablet. I've searched this site as well as google and the author's site, but I am coming up short. Any tips?

There is no legal PDF version of the book. If you do manage to find one please realize it is 'stolen' and in violation of Beth's copyright.

Re: Voyager's Handbook

You can do it through calibre if you have a digital version. And its not "stolen" don't be ridiculous. Well, unless you don't pay for it .. then yeah it would be stolen.

Not being silly . . . . there is no legal version in PDF format being distributed. That is a fact.

Yes, you can convert a Kindle version to PDF for your own personal use. But if you give a copy of that PDF to another person or receive it from someone else - then you have violated Beth's copyright.

The google books digital version is epub. When downloaded to adobe digital, it converts to PDF. This is without circumventing any DRM issues. So yeah I guess it isn't distributed as PDF but it is legally and easily converted

Yeah, you're correct, i thought that's what op was talking about, getting a legal copy. Not finding a free version.

Re: Voyager's Handbook

Didn't know about calibre and hadn't thought about Google play books - thanks.

FYI, through Google play books I noticed that the 3rd edition is coming out soon...I think I will wait for that before I buy an electronic copy.

No, the third edition is not coming out soon . . . it may never come out. I don't know where that info is coming from , but it is wrong (or at least Beth is not writing it).

Evans...

Maybe Beth is secretly writing the 3rd edition to pay for a surprise birthday party for you...

All I can say is that Beth is not writing anything atm, she has a full time job at BoatUS . . . . Perhaps McGraw Hill has another writer.

We figured it was a 2 year job to properly revise the book - and McGraw Hill offered $2,000 . . . . . So it would be a small surprise birthday party !

Re: Voyager's Handbook

Pretty pissy way for Beth to be treated Evans, if in fact MH has commissioned someone else to do a revision. Sadly, it's hard for a writer to make much money writing books. Everyone else in the chain can do ok, just not the author.
