This is an excellent book about the start of her dream, Convincing parents and other people about the dream. the preparations for the trip and finally the trip itself. It is also about how she faced and managed her mopes, lows, & fears and also mainly of her enjoyment of sailing. Four major knock downs to boot, she shows a lot of trust in her boat during the squalls & storms. In other words she did bare her soul somewhat in the book... A lot of emotions and the achieving one small goal at a time until she sailed back into Sydney's harbor that combined all of those small goals into a Very Major accomplishment For a young Woman of only Sixteen years of age.
Note read & reread this book three times in two days it was that good. Don't be surprised if you do get emotional while reading the book.
I second this recommendation. Ms. Watson wrote a very inspiring book that was also very interesting to read. I enjoyed reading about all the ups and downs of solo circumnavigating the globe.
I also enjoyed it. I was amazed at her preparation and drive at such a young age long before she had gained anyone's approval or consent. This girl had a goal and was totally driven. Remarkable.
