'Trading Spaces' goes Boating

Trading Spaces is going boating

One of The Learning Channel’s most popular home improvement television programs is taking its cameras to the water.

Trading Spaces is coming to Florida in early December, and is searching for people interested in taping a special episode with boats.

The show invites two sets of families to swap keys to each other’s homes for 48 hours and re-do one room along with a professional interior decorator/designer for guidance and a $1,000 budget.

A marina in Tampa, Fla., will provide the location. All the same rules for the land-based program apply, with one exception: Boat owners do not have to be neighbors.

There are three main requirements to participate: The boat must be over 40 feet, with the main living area measuring more than 14 feet by 14 feet and the overhead at least 7 feet high; all teammates (three or four to a team) must be family members; and there must be at least one child between the ages of 9 and 19 aboard each team — but no one younger than 9 is allowed to participate.

The deadline for interested parties to apply is Oct. 24.

14 x 14 x 7 ?

Trading mega-yachts, maybe ? Those parameters pretty much eliminate any reasonable sailboat & even a 65' Chris Craft Constellation falls short on overhead clearance. Oh well ...
