South Southern California Marinas

Does anyone have a list of marinas for the coast *south* of Dana Point? I am particularly interested in the Oceanside area.

Thanks

Michael

Ocenside

There is only one choice in O'side and thats the city run marina, (760) 721-1101. We have had several boats there over the years. There are three transiant docking areas. You will enter the outer basin and then procede to the inner where you will have a T intersection. Directly in front of you is the maina office and about 25 guest slips. These get a bit of serge and quite a bit of traffic wakes. You will be directed to tie up at a reception dock next to the travel lift and go up to the office to regester. There are two other guest docks. If they give you a choice take the "Jolly Rodger" dock. It is out of the swell and traffic. The third choice is along the rip rap wall by the fuel dock. If you have a very large boat (50+) they usually move you there and its the least favoriable.
One other option is the Oceanside YC guest dock. Its an end tie about 80' long. You can call the O'side YC to make a reservation for it, (760) 722-5751. The YC is a bit sleepy however the have a great Monday Night Football pot luck thats open to everyone.
A few years ago O'side use to be a real favorite with the Southbound boats but about 5 years ago the raised the guest slip rates (.90 per foot)and they havent been as busy. Beware of an uncoming event "Oceanside Harbor Days" It runs 9/20-9/21.

Good Luck
Mike

Ahh.... beware the surge! Thanks for the heads-up. So, it sounds like there simply is not much game in that area of the coast for slips.

Rats.

If you are retired or active duty miltary you might be able to get a guest spot for a few days on the Camp Pendleton side, call well ahead. Its more protected and has little to no traffic.

The Jolly Roger Sunday all you can eat and drink champagne brunch is great........

if you are willing to go further south, to San Diego, there are slips available. Their is a new, state of the art marina that is pretty cheap, from what I hear. It's called Pier 32, I believe. It's in South Bay, and from what I understand is not the nicest neighborhood, but the marina is brand new and awesome, and the staff is good. There are tons of other marinas in the area. I'm sure someone could accomodate you in S.D.

There are a few marinas in Oceanside. The one that I suggest is Oceanside Harbor Fuel Dock. This one has 50 guest slips, you can reach them at Oceanside Harbor Fuel Dock, San Diego - IgoUgo Reviews It gives you most of the information you would need. I personally have not been there but close friends of mine have been there. They rated it a "10". Good Luck!
