Refrigeration help ...

From Richard Kollmann:
There is now a technical Forum on the web site at; http://www.kollmann-marine.com
Much of the information for my books on boat refrigeration comes from repairing systems and answering E mail questions about mobile refrigeration. Every five years I have updated these books from the information collected. As technical books need to be revised more often than five years, my web site helps keep technical information on refrigeration up dated. I hope this new Refrigeration Forum will help with the exchange of current information about refrigeration.

This is an excellent website, with lots of good technical information. Hopefully the (brand new) Forum will prove as useful & informative.

ie - one of his many “tips”:
”...Lost of refrigerant: You can check this by observing the accumulation of frost on the evaporator inside the box. The amount of frost is not critical in this test, but it's where the frost is located that is significant. Let the unit run 10-12 hours on high. If there is a skim coat or more on the entire evaporator surface, the refrigerant charge is probably correct...”

Regards,
Gord

Excellent Refrigeration Help !!!

I cannot over-emphasize my recommendation of Richard Kollmann’s website at
http://www.kollmann-marine.com
for the very best Refrigeration (boat) advice. His FAQ’s and Tech Tips are excellent, but his replies to specific questions are beyond excellent !!!
Anyone contemplating the installation of boat refrigeration, or seeking operating and/or repair advice, should definitely check out this site.
I have no affiliation with Kollmann Marine, and do not know Richard Kollmann.

I'll second that. His response on his forum is quick, to the point and free.

I also bought one of his books a while back and found it informative and well written.

I will third that. I was surpried when I got a timely response to a question, actually more than one question. Try asking a designer a question, if you get any reply at all you are lucky. BC Mike C

Although I have not utilized his website, I've known Dick Kollman for 20+ years. It doesn't surprise me that his responses are timely and helpful. He is an extremely knowledgeable fellow and a darn nice guy! He loves what he does, and it shows.
