On-Line Surveys

Boats.com said today it is introducing a boat survey service for buyers of used boats through a partnership with Davis & Co. Ltd., the Lisle, Ill.-based survey firm that has 60 offices in the United States and Canada.

Boats.com said the service is available through a link on its Web site — www.boats.com/boat-survey . In addition to a condition and value survey, boats.com says, the service will offer a detailed accounting of how the value was determined and will cite any regulation or standard a vessel fails to conform to.

“The Internet has transformed the pre-owned boat market into a national market instead of a number of regional markets,” said boats.com co-founder, president and CEO Paul Rabe, in a statement. He said the new service gives a potential owner “the ability to have a boat surveyed anywhere in the country by one company and receive a limited warranty.”

Davis & Co. has 85 marine surveyors and six naval architects/marine engineers to perform its services, according to Greg Davis, president.

Regards,
