St. Brendan's Isle seems to be highly recommended by a lot of people. I wish there wasn't an additional monthly charge for their Mail Scan Pro service. With everything that's available electronically these days, I can see using Mail Scan Pro to read my mail online and never having mail forwarded to me. One would think that they would go digital for thier basic service then charge through the nose to actually handle and forward mail.

For me, a tremendous benefit of their service is continuing my Florida residency while I'm abroad.

Ditto. I find St Brendan's Isle to be efficient, affordable and very responsive to special needs.

If you need assistance with making purchases internationally
http://www.shipito.com/ offers a great mail forwarding and assisted purchasing service. Which is a big help when some stores outside the country don't accept international payments or sometimes they don't offer shipping internationally.

If you have any questions I'd be happy to help.

A note or two about SBI: Superlative service (mostly serving us while outside North America). But it isn't until one looks at the entire 'mail delivery process' that it's possible to appreciate what a bargain for offshore sailors their Mail Scan Pro service is. Without that level of service, you'll eventually need to have mail forwarded - and if your mail originates within N America, it can be stupifyingly expensive these days to have it forwarded internationally. Imagine:
-- scan thru all your mail and (virtually) toss all that you don't need
-- designate the mail you want to (virtually) open, and it's opened for you within 24 hours
-- read the mail (on-line), page by page
-- copy (digitally or on paper) what you want to keep and then have everything tossed

BTW all mail in the Mail Scan Pro system is handled far more than snail mail (as you can see by the above description) which is why there's a premium for the service. I would have saved significant money each year we've been abroad (7 so far) if I'd been able to use this system. Also, imagine no more logistics hoops to hop thru when it's time to have the snail mail sent to you - no 'lost mail' episodes, no 'timing issues' to get to the port and wait at the port for it to arrive.

Wonderful concept. Wonderful folks, too. No surprise they have been so successful.
