Re: Kindle vs Physical Books

Another vote for Calibre (calibre - E-book management)... While I prefer paper, space restraints have required a shift to E-Books. No Kindle (need the boat bucks elsewhere) but load onto my laptop. Also allows bigger screen for reference books etc. Calibre's ability to convert formats is also helpful. Cannot attest to DRM abilities as there is plenty of non-DRM pubs out there for me.

Several reference books are still in paper however... Calders M&E Repair Manual, Chapman's, and the "Red-Book" will always have a place onboard. Calders drys out much better after a dip in the bilge than the laptop.

Re: Kindle vs Physical Books

Calibre certainly is powerful and versatile, but I'd suggest that anyone who finds celestial nav or spherical trig to be complicated, will also prefer to stay on Kindle. HUGE difference in ease of use.

I think that once Amazon resolves the pricing issues with some major publishers and gets their library back in order, the "Kindle Unlimited" pitch has a lot to offer.
