Amazon has the book Longitude on sale for $2.99. Don't know for how long. Great mini-series with Michael Gambon was based on it.

Longitude was a really good book. I read it before I bought my Kindle.

Amazing the ingenuity, engineering and machining skill and political intrigue that went into claiming the prize for designing an accurate clock. Fascinating read for anyone with an interest in the history of navigation or just someone who wants a good read.

I may be one of the few people who has not read it. Though I have seen Harrison's clock on display in Greenwich. The book has been on my list and for $1.99 I'll be buying it tonight, Thanks for the heads up Mycroft.

Sigh, not for my EU registered Kindle. Love my Kindle too, but the offering really is better in the US. Then again, just finished a teak bookshelf for the boat and need something to fill it up - trip to the analogue book store coming up!
