Free Online Audio Books . . .

The audio books listed on this site are free, because the copyrights have expired- and others have volunteered their voice talents. This is not pirated material.

There are some really cool books that I thought might interest our community...

It looks like they but a more user friendly interface on the books at
/librivox.org. I have listened to a number of these and they are generally good if not quite professional quality.

They list almost all the librivox audio books on their site.

I like the Books Should be Free site, because they have the ability for you to hear what it sounds like before you download. Most I have found are really good readers- some however, not so much.

Librivox books about the sea

LibriVox: Search Results

In addition to the Slocum book, here's some others, within their index category of "sea stories"

also if anyone has an android cell phone you can get the: aldiko app and the ambling app. aldiko is ebooks (yes you still have to do the reading yourself lol) and ambling is an audiobook app. anyways i got all the classics on both, the coral island, treasure island, lots of old sea and pirate stories.

Question on recommendations on how to file the ABooks.

Have the computer and iTunes, and CD player, but no Ipod or other such thing aboard at this time.

Some of these sites offer the Podcast option... which would be better? I think I can load the Podcast to the iTune program but never have done that before. Which would use the less space? Should I put these on a thumb drive or can I burn to CD?

Rather not put too much on the actual computer but have thumb drives and the Passport portable hard disk available.

thanks

if you have an audio converter you could probably convert it to mp3 or a format that you can burn on cd and replay on the cd player. there are free converters available for download on the internet.
