Is this book any good?

I have just purchased "Catamarans - The Complete Guide for Cruising Sailors" by the same author. As per my earlier thread in the library, the books are virtually identical. I am only up to page 50 but I can tell you now that it is a fantastic book and I highly recommend it.

It sits on my night stand along with Cornell's cruising routes. I like the pictures and the text is to the point. Definately worth the money

For those wondering and looking to learn about cruising Catamarans it's a great primer. I picked it up last nite and sped through the first 100 pages. Decent read... It's not very in depth on any one topic and the meat of the book is the first 200 pages. After that it's brochure/stat/picture info on recommended Catamarans that are currently in production.

For a sailing noob like myself, it's been well worth the read.

Recommended catamarans you say. From what year is the book?

I have the repress I believe. It was originally printed 2006 but reprinted in 2008 with updated info. The introduction actually points out that the industry is in such a revolution that it'll probably be out of of date within a few short years. BUT... that being said. The book goes a long way in explaining the characteristics of a catamaran and is a decent primer/overview on the qualities of a good Cat.

I've done a fair share or hunting and lurking around online for information and I've found the book a decent amalgamation of information I'd read or have learned online. Having it all together in the book has been a decent read and quite useful.

Not sure how useful it'll be in 2 years or so... but by then I hope to have a boat and be sailing.

I ordered online and while the catalogue advertised the 2007 edition I actually received the 2008 edition.

This book is great and I highly recommend it to anyone who owns, looking to own or interested in learning about modern day cruising cats. Best to get the 2008 edition as you did. Awesome photography too, eh? Good score!
