Ah!!! Well, I don't disagree that Fatty calls 'em as he sees 'em, that he is full of shameless self promotion and in the opinion of many he could stand with a healthy dose of humility.
But that wasn't the question, was it?
Regardless of whether you like his writing or his personality, you cannot deny that he has been crusing on little or no
money for his entire adult life... and before. Much of his writing is about how he has done it (and yes, his ego shines right through), but at the same time he makes very valid arguments for how it can (and should) be done small and inexpensively. And his i
rreverent style is entertaining in the same way as that certain other (heavily tattood and outspoken) lifestyle cruiser/writer with an odd name we all know and love.
Case in point, see Fatty's article in the November 2008 issue of that other rag, Cruising World.
This is not to say he is the best or that there aren't others. But he is one of the
current voices in the "Church of Cruising on a budget"
Now I have to get to
work ....
so I can afford my over priced, full of bells and whistles boat.
