Re: Any good E reads?
The Sporades Sailing Pilot...... got loads os stories and features in it! I started a new sport called schism hunting which is squeezing a yacht between reefs, rocks, into caves etc without scratching the thing.... Some of the 'schisms' are in the ebook on kindle, coming out on google and ibooks shortly!

On a delivery recently, well offshore, we did an out-loud reading of "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner," which is available as a free e-book. Great fun.
You can also get free e-books of "Moby Dick" and all of Melville, all of Conrad, stories by Lincoln Colcord, "Captains Courageous," "The Riddle of the Sands," "Treasure Island," Slocum, Jack London. . . . And throw in as much Dickens and Austen as you like, plus a few good Trollopes . . . .
Love them public domain e-books!

Mark Twain's epic "Following the Equator" is a free read in Apple's iBooks store. Not sure if it's free on the Kindle, but even if it's not, it's worth the price of admission!

There is a series wrItten by Clive Cussler that involves a rather unique vessel called "Oregon". These adventures are of modern times, high spirited, action adventure.

Anyone mention "Sailing Faith"? Not a novel but of a family dropping out and circumnavigating the globe. Not a lot about sailing, but more about the life and what can be learned. Granger spends a fair amount of time talking about the unfounded fears American cruisers have about foreign lands and people. I think it's free for,Prime members.

Just finished "Swirly World Sails South" by Andrew Fagan.
"In 2007, Kiwi musician and radio personality Andrew Fagan set sail in his 5.4 metre plywood yacht, Swirly World, to circumnavigate New Zealand. And just to make it more difficult, the outspoken Fagan included a leg to the sub-Antarctic Auckland Islands in the notorious Southern Ocean. All in all he sailed over 3000 miles in two months. Facing such potentially lethal conditions in such a tiny..."
I found this a great read Andrew Fagan has an easy way of writing that takes you along on the journey, he also has guts doing this voyage in such a tiny plywood boat.

Two absolute must reads are South the story of Shackelton's failed trip to the South Pole and The log of the Bounty as written by by Capt William Bligh that includes his impressive transPac crossing in an open boat.
They tell stories of two great seamen and one great leader.
