3 inch diamater.

It is great on some yanmars that are shoehorned into engine compartments.

Positive grip, doesn't slip, doesn't collapse the filter housing

Re: The Best Oil Filter Wrench I Have Found

This is why I specced out a remotely mounted oil filter that hangs down vertically and is mounted on my bulkhead. Side mounted oil filters are not only hard to get at, they are stupid. Whatever's in the filter spills as you spin the thing off.

When I have free access, any convenient strap wrench will suffice. However, don't let my comments stand in the way of free enterprise. I'm sure it's a handy thing to have when you are otherwise scraping knuckles.

Pictures of Filter Removal on an Island Packet.

No busted Knuckles, No marring of filter like you might get with a metal band

Re: The Best Oil Filter Wrench I Have Found

Looks nice and clean. But will it grip when it gets a little oily?

I don't see how to order one....

Re: The Best Oil Filter Wrench I Have Found

Who puts their filter on tight enough to need a wrench to pry it off? All the modern filters have roughed up grips with grooves. I was actually just looking at my filter wrench the other day; it's been years since I've touched it. Contemplated throwing it out and remembered there's probably someone who torqued the hell out of a filter out there.

Re: The Best Oil Filter Wrench I Have Found

Any way how tight should an oil filter be
Hand tight or do you need extra torque with a wrench

I have always nippid up by hand and have never had a problem

Lubricate the seal. Snug it and then a quarter turn by hand.
