We recently rescued Ianne, formerly Seasmoke, from being cut up when the owner found he bit off more than he wanted at auction
. He had purchased the boat, driven her from Santa Barbara to Ventura to be told on haulout that she'd need over 100K in restoration
. After a month in fees
, he decided to cut his loses. We took possession of her and trucked her to our yard. After a thorough inspection
, I fail to see where restoring her will approach 100K, much less exceed it.
Seasmoke was commissioned for James Arness (Marshall Matt Dillon of Gunsmoke fame) and sailed by Mr. Arness until he took delivery
of K-50 hull
number one. She's sailed the South Pacific
and to Hawaii
several times. She was made into a more seaworthy offshore
boat than a stock K-40 and is a well equipped dual headsail sloop
, it's my estimate that a complete restoration
would run between 40-50K plus the current
costs of the boat, which amount to $5,500.00. This figure includes new ribs in the salon
area and forward, all brightwork, new paint
, seam reconditioning and other items needed to bring her to bristol condition.
