Quad 44 Solar/Electric Catamaran

I'm starting this thread (with admin permission) to introduce the Quad 44, a unique new type of solar/electric cruising catamaran. The Quad 44 is the culmination of a 10-year R&D effort to create a cruising catamaran without the flaws and compromises of traditional designs, and without the reliability and maintenance problems of diesel engines.

We've succeeded in creating a catamaran that will exceed the performance and specifications of traditional boats in seven key areas:

Much larger accommodation space with quieter cabins
Improved hull performance (more energy efficient / higher speed)
Eliminates diesel reliability and maintenance problems
Boarding and disembarking is much easier and safer
Smoother, more comfortable passage in rough weather
Much better visibility from enclosed forward helm station
Storage for 2 dinghies, with easier and safer boarding

Most of these benefits are the result of the boat's innovative raised-cabin configuration. For more details check out the web site at www.QuadMarine.com

Re: Quad 44 Solar/Electric Catamaran

I dunno. The Overblue 44 a is similar hull like design, but with a mobile home on top. It's ugly as sin. The Quad 44 looks nice albeit a bit like a space capsule on two hulls. The round portals could be one long rectangular tinted window, and sliding glass doors on each side. That would reduce the "spacecraft" look. You should show more video with the optional sail. Using sails could turn props for additional battery juice.

Can't wait to see one of these soon, Is the draft really 4 feet ? Couldn't the drive and props stick out of hulls 90 degrees to the inside of tunnel, then they could actually be above the bottom of hull.

Hi Nauti Cat,

Our current design will use outboard electric drive units at the aft end of each lower hull. So the draft will be well under 4 feet.

and from your website:

" We invite you to explore our web site and discover why the Quad 44 is the most advanced four-cabin cruising catamaran in the world!"

Where can we see this catamaran you say you have created?

(Or is it still just marketing hype? )

Nice concept but far away to be the first manufacturer of solar driven power cats !
Have a look at the website of Silent Yachts : www.silent-yachts.com

Sold more than 15 cats for the last two years so far as I know.
