I have been bottom feeding for quite a while now trying to make that decision between a handheld GPS or the 5in screen size or the 6in or the 8.5 inch size or the what-the-heck 12inch size all the while cross-comparing features / price trade-off while trying to intuitively factor in overall step-in price and expandability.

Then I met Retrevo - GPS product advisor.

I like the graphing technology they use. I checked their displays and sequencing against products I do know well (GPS / chartplotting is not one of them) and I find their representations spot on.

Anyways, if you are bottom feeding at Home - GetFeetWet Navigation BV5 like I have been now for over a month and are struggling to compare apples to apples vis a vis eOpinions and Amazon reviews, you might want to look at Retrevo.com

I am finding it very useful.

Very cool website. Thanks Mike.

Unfortunately I could not get it to show the Garmin Colorado 400C which I humbly and currently think is the coolest marine handheld going.

I'm about to purchase my first GPS, and am deciding between either a Garmin Colorado 400c or a Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx. I'm leaning towards the Colorado, but for a few negatives from the reviews:
  1. Weak display brightness, hard to read in sunlight
  2. Compass/heading functions are too sensitive
  3. MOB function is buried three levels deep in menus
  4. Does not float
The Colorado interface does seem much more usable.

Does anyone have any experience with these devices or some words of wisdom or advice they could share?

Thank for sharing!
