Another vote for OGM - I have zero interference in my radio with the light right next to it and I love the light sensor idea to switch on the anchor light when it gets dark.
Recently bought an Aqua Signal as a spare (huge discount), but I've seen reports since that complains about interference with this light - have not tested this for myself though.

Re: Which tricolour/anchor light should I buy?

Euro Marine Trading used to carry the lights used by the Volvo Boats. But from their website, I don't see them there any longer, at first glance.
Though one would think that the gear that such boats use is fairly bulletproof. Albeit with a price to match.

Still, if you're needing hardware of such quality, investigating what's used in such circles might by worth it.

Hmmm... all their distributors seem to be in the USA. I wonder what's available in the UK?

In the Dutch magasin "Zeilen" (May 2016) there is a test of these tricolor-lamps. The AquaSignal 34 LED/Tricolor/Anchor is doing it very well!
Probably you can have a look at the test via a question for that (because you are "playing in the mud"!) to: info@zeilen.nl.

On the OGM. I believe mine is about 10 years old and no issues. It looks bullet proof. Seems to be one of the most expensive, but...

Re: Which tricolour/anchor light should I buy?

When we had the boat built I installed an Orca Green Tricolor... It is an LED, Anchor/Tri-Color and White Flashing Light.

I have no preference on the make of Light, but would suggest you find one that has a WHITE FLASHING LIGHT.

When we were cruising, I found the White Flashing Light invaluable in crowded anchorages when friends are looking for you. A number of times I turned on the white flashing light for boats looking for the anchorage as well. Obviously in an emergency, a white flashing light would work as a great visual aid.

To make sure it wasn't turned on accidentally, I wired the Flashing Light to come on only when both the anchor switch and tricolor switch are on together.

I also don't think the Photocell on an LED Light is worth the price since even if you leave the light on, you are only drawing about 1/10 of an amp.

Have fun!

What about "LopoLight" very smal and expensive, but TOP quality from Denmark!

The Stecktronix light is also USCG verified. Here is a link to their site...

I believe we have the STM-402WA. This is the one with the strobe feature.

Cheers!

I guarantee that my optolamp units have ZERO marine radio interference, or your money back.

It makes me wonder if the LEDs are sufficiently focused to keep from having a big red/green zone ahead.

The older vertical filament tricolors from Aquasignal, Hella and Peters and Bey had remarkably accurate angular cut-offs, and there was virtually no ambiguity as to which sector you were looking at.

Anyone notice this problem with some of the LED lights?

Re: Which tricolour/anchor light should I buy?

[QUOTE=Sandero;2105818]I just installed an AquaSignal series 34... waiting for the mast to be stepped. Looks well made and easy to install.[/QUOTE

Testing while the mast is horizontal is wise. Same for fitting one with mast standing, the light and wiring can be bench tested. That's a little tip that I picked up on this forum!! My rigger wishes he had thought of it before having to go back up and fit a replacement light!
Hope that helps someone.

Orca Green = Orca Green Machine = OGM = Misea for a little while (changed name back to OGM).
